CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF PROBATIONER NURSES AND STAFF NURSES IN THE HONGKONG
GOVERNMENT MEDICAL SERVICE.
A Candidate must be not less than 20 years of age and muust furnish satisfactory references together with the Certificate of a qualified Medical Practitioner of her fitness for service.

A selected Candidate will be required to serve for three months on trial at the Govern- ment Civil Hospital.
Kostur
Thereafter an approved Candidate will be required to enter into an agreement with the Colonial Government to serve as a probationer for 3 years, including the months spent ou trial, at a salary of rising to $90 per annum by $60 annual increments, with light and fuel, uniform, attendance and furnished quarters.
During the time of probation the probationer will undergo training under the following curriculum:-
1st year:
(a). Elementary Anatomy.
(b). Elementary Physiology.
2nd year:
3rd year:
(a). Practical Nursing, Bandaging.
(b). Elementary Surgery in relation to Nursing (c). Elementary Medicine in relation to Nursing.
Lecture on special subjects, Malarial Fever, Plague, Enteric Fever, &o, &c.
At the end of term of probation an examination will be held in the subjects comprised in the curriculum and Certificates of Competency will be awarded to successful candidates.

On expiration of her probation an approved probationer will be required to enter into an agreement with the Colonial Government to serve for 2 years as "Nurse" at an annual salary of $ for the first year and of for the second, with light and 'uel, uniform, attendance and furnished quarte ra.

A Nurse will undergo systematic making during her period of service.
A "Nurse" after the completion of 2 years' service as such may, at the Governor's option, be brought on to the Permanent Establishment with the title of "Staff Nurse" at a salary of £80 rising to £120 per annum by £20 triennial increments with fuel and light, uniform, attendance and furnished quarters.
Probationers, Nurses and Staff Nurses will as a rule perform eight hours duty daily, but may, if necessary, be called upon for extra duty They may be employed at any of the Hospitals of the Colonial Government, and shall be under the orders of the Medical Officer and under the general supervision and direction of the Matron and Nursing Sisters of the Hospital to which they are attached.
Probationers, Nurses, and Staff Nurses will be subject to the rules and regulations govern- ing the Hongkong Civil Service ani will enjoy such rights of lewe, prusion, etc., as they may be entitled to under such rules and regulations.
